The Physics of Cold Plasma
Air purification begins with coarse filtration, which traps large dust particles, lint, pet hair, and the like
The plasma generator is already part of the fine purification system. It rids the air of microparticles and of substances that trigger allergic reactions or carry unpleasant odors. This happens at a high voltage of about 5000 V. Passing through the electric field, particles of the nominally “polluted air” acquire a positive electric charge. Once they reach the deeper layers of the filter, where negatively charged elements await, the two attract each other, the charge is neutralized, and the particles remain on the plasma filter in their neutral state — while the air leaving the air conditioner is as clean as possible.
After an hour of air conditioner operation, not a trace of odors remains. Within 10 minutes, viruses are neutralized and the membranes of bacterial cells are destroyed — above all the DNA molecules — after which the microorganisms lose their ability to reproduce. Organic matter is oxidized into water and carbon dioxide. The moisture enters the drainage system and is discharged from the split system.

Let's outline the main stages of “cold plasma” technology once more:
- Generation of a high voltage of about 5000, releasing protons and oxygen anions.
- Hydrogen shares its positive charge and effectively “surrounds” the pollutants.
- Electrons, carrying a negative charge, attract the polluting particles.
- The product of the reaction is “cold plasma.” It disrupts the natural structure of the protein coats in the DNA of virions and other microbes, producing water and molecular oxygen — the main component of air.
Formaldehyde and nicotine are broken down as well.
Advantages of the Technology
Here is a list of the method's advantages:
- The technology is environmentally safe and has low power consumption.
- Climate-control equipment with a plasma module needs no additional filters. It handles both the purification function and the bactericidal function. Other filters require parallel operation in tandem.
- The plasma generator produces no magnetic field that could harm the appliance.
- Thanks to cold plasma, significantly less dust settles on furniture and other surfaces.
- Plasma technology deals with 95% of pathogenic microbes in 30 minutes. A catechin filter has the same bactericidal capacity, but to achieve a similar result it needs to run for at least 5-6 hours.
- Being cold, the plasma does not damage components made of heat-sensitive materials.
Sensei specialists are confident that the effectiveness of cold plasma does not decline over time, whereas other filters wear out and clean the air less effectively.
Who Benefits Most from an Air Conditioner with a Plasma Generator
Climate-control equipment based on “cold plasma” technology can be useful to the following categories of users:
- families with small children, whose immune systems are not yet fully developed;
- pet owners, to get rid of mites, epithelial cells, and animal hair;
- users diagnosed with asthma or allergies.
An air conditioner with Cold Plasma technology will serve virtually every user well, reducing the risk of contracting infectious diseases. Of course, it is not a 100% guarantee that no one will get infected or fall ill, but during epidemics even that extra safeguard is far from superfluous. The technology will also help people who suffer from headaches caused by oxygen deprivation, since it continuously enriches the air with oxygen.
In the opinion of Sensei experts, air conditioners based on cold plasma will soon completely replace their mechanical counterparts and tackle contaminants that are beyond the latter's reach.
