Filters in air conditioners and their features
When choosing an air conditioner, it is important to take into account not only its power, but also what filters it is equipped with. The complete set of climatic equipment usually includes a whole set of filters to solve different tasks.
The most advanced models of air conditioners are equipped with purification systems that rid the air of almost all types of impurities, among the main ones:
- tobacco smoke;
- poplar fluff;
- mold spores;
- microbes, including pathogenic ones;
- pet hair;
- toxic substance.
The quality of the filter affects the cost of the air conditioner. An expensive universal model is not always the best solution. - the building’s location relative to the cardinal directions.
Zeolitic based on a porous mineral, excellent adsorbent. More efficient than coal-fired ones. They will last up to 5 years if periodically washed with clean water.
Electrostatic. They are based on the interaction of differently charged particles. They have an unlimited service life.
Plasma, destroying the spatial structure of toxic compounds, the structure of mold fungi, bacteria. They work for an unlimited time. Get rid of allergens.
Ultraviolet filters with an led light that disinfects the air and destroys viruses and bacteria.
Photocatalytic with titanium dioxide as a catalyst that accelerates the decomposition reactions of unsafe organics. They cope with both organic and mineral contamination. They work for a long time, as long as the functionality of the UV lamp is preserved.
Biofilters inactivate the microorganisms. The basis can be:
- Wasabi. It is obtained from a plant growing in the North of Japan and has bactericidal properties. Wasabi-filter removes formaldehyde, neutralize mites.
- Catechin is a natural antiseptic found in apples and green tea.
Filters containing flavonoids, have an antioxidant effect, that is, they destroy free radicals.
Filters with ascorbic acid. Manufacturers claim that vitamin C boosts the immune system and improves skin condition. Some experts believe that this is a marketing move aimed at increasing sales of budget air conditioners.
